Q. What ticket types do you offer?
A. We offer single journey tickets and ten journey tickets. We also offer tax saver tickets. Single journey tickets can be purchased with cash directly from the driver. You can also use your Leap Card to purchase single and ten journey tickets. Tax saver tickets need to be purchased via the order form on our website.
Q. Does the driver carry change?
A. Our drivers do not carry change, so you will need to have the exact cash fare ready when boarding the bus. Further information on our fares can be found here.

Q. How do I purchase a ten journey ticket with my Leap Card?
A. You can purchase a ten journey ticket with your Leap Card online via www.leapcard.ie or you can ask our drivers to load the ten journey ticket on to your card when you are boarding the bus. If you are purchasing on the bus, you will need to make sure your Leap Card has been topped up by a sufficient amount prior to boarding the bus (€27 for students, €37 for adults).
Q. Does my ten journey ticket have an expiry date?
A. Yes. Your ten journeys must be used within 30 days of product purchase.
Q. What forms of student identification do you accept on Fingal Express?
A. We accept the Student Travel Card and the ISIC Card on Fingal Express. No other forms of student identification are accepted at this time.
Q. Can I purchase a student fare using an adult Leap Card?
A. It is not possible to purchase a student fare (single or ten-journey) with an adult Leap Card. The machines are set in such a way that the student fares can only be loaded on to a student Leap Card.
Q. Is it possible for the driver to accidentally double charge my Leap Card?
A. This is not possible, as the machines have been programmed to prevent this from happening.
Q. How do I know how many journeys I have left on my Leap ten journey ticket?
A. When you swipe your card as you board the bus, the number of journeys remaining on your ticket will show on the green LED screen of the ticket machine.
Q. What is your policy on the use of e-cigarettes?
A. We do not permit the use of e-cigarettes on any of our buses.
Q. Can I bring my pet on the bus?
A. We do not allow animals on the bus, with the exception of guide dogs.
Q. Can I bring my bicycle or pram on the bus?
A. There is space for bicycles/prams in the storage compartment underneath the bus, however, please be advised that the driver will need to open this compartment for you and this may delay other passengers who are waiting to board the bus.
Q. Are free travel passes accepted on Fingal Express?
A. We accept free travel passes on our services.
Q. Can I eat/drink on board the bus?
A. In the interest of safety and out of consideration for your fellow passengers, we would ask that you refrain from eating and drinking on Fingal Express coaches.
Q. What are the age restrictions on your child fares?
A. We offer child fares to anyone under the age of 19 and children under the age of 3 travel free on Fingal Express.
Q. I would like to buy a tax saver ticket. What do I need to do?
A. Please visit our taxsaver order form page to purchase your Fingal Express tax saver tickets.
Q. How do I order a tax saver ticket?
A. Your employer needs to visit our website and fill out an online order form to order a ticket on your behalf. As soon as the form has been filled out and submitted, an invoice will be emailed which can be paid via EFT, cheque or PayPal online. We also accept credit card payments over the phone. Kindly note, tickets will not be released until full payment has been received by us.
Q. What is the deadline to order a tax saver ticket?
A. The cut-off date to order and pay for a tax saver ticket is the 21st of each month to ensure timely delivery of orders commencing the following month. We will endeavour to dispatch late orders on time however, there is a risk delivery may be delayed. The exception is for January tickets, when orders must be in before 11th December to ensure all orders are processed before Christmas break up.
Q. How much is a tax saver ticket?
A. We offer three types of tax saver ticket – monthly at €132, three month at €387 and annual at €1,399
Q. Are these prices before or after tax deduction?
A. Prices above are full price before any tax deductions have been made. Tax savers are purchased on your behalf by your employer and tax deductions are generally made via a salary sacrifice arrangement with your employer.
Q. Can I buy a taxsaver ticket from the driver?
A. No. Tickets must be ordered online.
Q. Can I buy a taxsaver ticket via Taxsaver.ie?
A. No. Taxsaver.ie only offers tickets from state owned transport operators and tickets from private operators are not available for purchase here.
Q. Do I need photo identification?
A. You are required to present photographic identification for use with your taxsaver ticket. We accept any form of valid photographic identification (e.g. driving licence, photographic work ID etc). If you do not have a valid photographic ID, we can produce one for you if you send us a head shot via email (feedback@fingalexpress.com) or via post.
Q. How do I cancel a taxsaver ticket?
A. We only accept cancellations for 3-month or annual tickets and the ticket must be returned to us via registered post or courier, together with a letter from the employer explaining the reasons for cancellation. As soon as the returned ticket has been received, we will issue a refund for months remaining on the ticket minus a 10% administration fee. We will only refund full months remaining on the ticket. For example, if there are 6 months remaining on the ticket, we will refund 6 months minus an administration fee of 10%. Tickets must be returned and in the possession of Fingal Express before any refunds will issue.
Q. I have lost my taxsaver ticket. What should I do?
A. Loss or theft of your taxsaver ticket must be reported to us as soon as possible. We require a letter from your company administrator on headed paper before we will issue you with a new card. In addition, theft of your ticket should be reported to the Gardaí. Please be advised that a processing fee of €20 will apply which must be paid before we reissue the ticket.
Q. I have lost my taxsaver ticket again. What will this cost?
A. The loss of the first taxsaver card will result in a processing fee of €20 as outlined above. Subsequent losses will result in payment of 50% of the value of the remainder of the ticket which must be paid before we reissue a replacement taxsaver ticket. An additional charge of €8 is required for dispatch via registered post.
